Grace and Jackson Taylor are both currently working as licensed therapists dedicated to helping clients grow through trauma and find meaning in their lives. One of the places they personally have found meaning in is movie nights that bring people together, as well as being more mindful of what entertainment they consume through the meticulous nature of owning physical copies of shows and movies. Their goal with CINEMANIACS is to build a "third place" away from work and home where people can come together, build community, and consume in a more thoughtful way than binging Netflix on the couch alone. Grace and Jackson developed the mantra "death to digital" to elicit a more drastic reaction to streaming services editing our shows, in some cases deleting our "purchased" movies from our digital libraries, and continuing to skyrocket their prices now that they own the market.

Their current collection contains over one thousand titles in VHS, DVD, and BLU-RAY, which will act as the beginning of CINEMANIACS Movie Club Collection.

The Importance of Preserving Physical Media

This is where the story started for us...

As filmmakers we found ourselves working on a small documentary project that only got bigger and bigger as we talked to people around the country at independent video stores like WeLuvVideo in Austin, Movie Madness in Portland, and even the last Blockbuster Video in Bend, OR. We began to rediscover the richness of community that was lost with the slow death of physical media and brick and mortar stores that supported them, as well as the importance of preserving the films we grew up with that mean so much to us. Because licensing issues and movies that are lost to time are only the beginning of the trouble!
